Microsoft announced the minimum seat requirement for Office 365 Multi-Geo Capabilities will be reduced from 2500 seats to 500 seats. This change will be effective as of June 2019. All the other original requirement will still remain.

Due to this change small sized company’s can now benefit from the Office 365 Data at rest multi Geo Capabilities. With this new change you will need to have a minimum of 500 office 365 Seats and have 25 of these seats licensed for multi GEO.

These additional requirements remain in place:

• A minimum of 5% of the Office 365 Services subscriptions within a tenant have a corresponding Multi-Geo Capabilities in Office 365/
• Except for the initial provisioning of a Multi-Geo Capabilities in Office 365 subscription, Geo moves per month are limited to the lesser of 4,000 or 5% of Customer’s Multi-Geo Capabilities in Office 365 subscriptions.

Note: Multi Geo is not a solution for poor network performance but to solve data at rest requirements only. Multi Geo will bring you a administrative overhead.
